Derek Lavigne

Derek Lavigne is the Director of VDC, responsible for streamlining modular buildings throughout the design, manufacturing, construction and building operations phases with use of state-of-the-art technology and BIM processes. Prior to joining Greystar in 2022, Derek worked for Whiting-Turner’s Virtual Design and Construction Group, where he gained experience in Visualizations, creating Site Logistics Animations, Videos and Virtual Reality Experiences, and primarily, their Execution of Work Team, enhancing the Operations Teams ability to coordinate and mitigate constructability concerns for future and active projects. While his experience was largely in Multi-Family and Senior Living, Derek also made contributions in Healthcare, Sports and Fitness and Mission Critical Projects. Notable projects during his time at WT are the MGM National Harbor Casino (National Harbor, MD), The Highlands (Arlington, VA), Ingleside at Rock Creek (Washington D.C.), The Mather at Tysons Corner, and The Baltimore Ravens Practice Facility. Derek graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and was a member of the first class of the Digital Building Concentration. During his time at Drexel, he had Co-ops at Site Design, Telecommunications, and General Contracting Companies.
